Le Népal est au fond du pré, dans mon atelier, à défaut de pouvoir y aller cette année. Il suffit de me replonger dans mes photos et en quelques traits de crayons et de pinceaux, je me retrouve dans le Solukhumbu qui me manque. Le croquis, c'est encore meilleur que le rêve! Nepal is down the field, in my studio, as I can't go there this year. I just need to dig into my photos and, with some drawing lines and brush strokes, I find myself back in the Solukhumbu I miss. A seketch is even better than a daydream!

Dans le journal de demain. In tomorrow's newspaper

Pour mon croquis à publier dans "Le Messager" de demain, j'ai choisi, comme sujet, quelqu'un qu'on connait bien à Saint-Martin, le Grand Galley, qui a accepté gentiment. Je me réjouis de lui montrer le croquis. As a subject for sketch to be published in "Le Messager" tomorrow, I choose somebody well known in Saint-Martin, the big Galley, who niceley accepted it. Quand l'ensemble du tableau "bouge" beaucoup, quand il y a trop de diagonales, de changements de couleurs et des traits trop "nerveux, le résultat est un tableau "agité". Il aurait fallu ménager une plage plus calme, par contraste, ou calmer un peu le jeu des couleurs. Ici, je pourrais ajouter que les arbres sont trop détaillés, que le ciel ajoute encore à l'agitation et que le vert est toujours une couleur difficile à apprivoiser. Bref, j'ai l'art de me retrouver dans une telle situation quand je fais une démo... When the painting, on the whole, moves too much, when there are too many diagonals, different colors and too "nervous" drawing strokes, the result is an "agitated" painting. I should have managed a calmer spot, by contrast, or calm down the colors. I can also add that trees are too much detailed, the sky adds to the agitation and the green color is always at risk. In short, I am really good at finding myself in such a situation when it comes to make a demo...
